At about the age of 37, the physical body tends to start degenerating. Amazingly, so many of us look forward to the years of “becoming” but fail to enjoy life to the fullest due to many preventable diseases. Today, there are many debilitating conditions affecting individuals; this is due to unhealthy lifestyle choices, such as the lack of exercise and improper diet. The Obesity Epidemic has been quite overwhelming over the last decade. The growing prevalence of processed food has proven to be a contributing factor to this condition.

In a recent conversation with Dr. E. Coburn, an internist from NY who spent decades in the health care industry; he noted that throughout his practice, there is consistency with the following conditions among the majority of his patients:

· Stress:

· Diabetes

· Hypertension

· Atherosclerosis

· Degenerative Joint Disease: Commonly known as osteoarthritis

· Obesity

Research has shown that these conditions are knowingly lifestyle-related and are preventable.

What you should start doing now

Eat Right

‘Your food is your medicine’ This is a popular concept embraced by leading medical professionals, but how true is this statement. Many studies are now revealing the impact of a good diet on our overall wellbeing and longevity. Your diet can impact how you feel and look, like having radiant and soft skin can imply that you eat lots of fruits. Superfoods are foods with high nutritional content (micronutrients) that are essential for our bodies’ development. Eating foods such as spirulina, sea moss, broccoli, Krill, and whey protein can do just the trick for your health. These may seem dull, but there are tons of fun and tasty recipes on the internet, which I will also share in future posts.

Exercise

As of former childhood athlete, I still revere exercise. I enjoy doing it even when it is difficult. The pandemic has influenced many people to embark on healthier lifestyle practices, but; for many, the struggle still exists. It is best to start exercising from an early age; it is more effective, safer, and healthier than any antiaging products. Exercise not only keeps you toned and fit, but it also tightens the skin and is beneficial for cardiovascular health with many other benefits. During this pandemic, it is helpful to boost the immune system and reduce stress. Simple exercises you can do to stay healthy at home are squats, pushups, and dips.

Get enough rest

Oh yes! Sweet rest, and who doesn’t love this one. There are several benefits of what adequate rest can do for one’s overall wellbeing. Research helps to boost productivity and concentration and retain balance weight and help to reduce stress. I have struggled with sleep in my adult years, especially if dealing with stressful situations, but I experimented with some techniques that work! Simple tricks you can try to include are quick exercises before bed, breathing exercises, and reading.

Do something you love! Have some Fun!

There are days when life knocks us to the curb, and our emotional health falls in shatters. I agree with the famous saying that “no man is an island” There are many positive benefits of having a good support system. It can be difficult at times, but when you talk about a problem, the more insignificant it will be. That means you’re dealing with it! And who knows, you just might get your friends and family to help with solving. I have to add lastly. Do something fun that you love! There are a number of fun activities that you can do to enhance your psychological well-being and overall health such as; painting, reading, watching fun movies, sports just to name a few.

Life is for living, so we need to ensure we live it right. We have looked at some simple ways that we can live healthier, happier, and longer lives. It’s time for you to take care of your health, eat healthier, get fit, have some fun, and relax! Join the movement and start now! The future of health depends on all our standards and results.
